The Owl Farm on 9th St #theother5th

The Park Slope Fifth Avenue Business Improvement District (BID) not only flows from Dean to 18th Streets along 5th Avenue, but also stretches up some of the adjacent side streets: 9th St being one. The Owl Farm is a watering hole just on this very stretch. Almost three years old, it's quite a hidden gem, tucked in just behind the Chase Bank, off 5th Avenue. I was lucky to catch Manager and Co-Owner, Steven Baird and the lovely and helpful John, on a rare sunny and warm day this month.

With 28 draft beers on tap, there's is no such thing as beer boredom at The Owl Farm. Steven explained that they only get in one or two kegs of each draft beer so the selection is ever changing. Some beers are locally sourced, in fact the new one last week "Other Half" is brewed a block or two away.

I was handed a menu of draft beers, bottled cider and bottled beers. It's pretty extensive and I love that it's arranged by strength, to suit your taste, but also so that you can pace yourself!

The Owl Farm has an extensive selection of ciders, 15-20. You can see the range behind John in the photograph.

The bar is pretty cozy and traditional. They do not serve food, but there are some pinball machines in the back if you can drag yourself away from the alcohol selection.

The Owl Farm is open 2pm - 4am or 12.30pm to 4am weekends and have beer events not to be missed.
