The Last Blog Post

Welcome to All About Fifth!

The Park Slope Fifth Avenue BID launched this blog site back in 2009 to help promote the amazing things that were happening along Park Slope's Fifth Avenue between Dean and 18th Streets.

As of today (9/19/2016) however, the BID has merged this blog onto its newly designed website at parkslopefifthavenuebid.com. The old blog posts will remain on this site as an archive, for the time being.

We look forward to seeing you on #theother5th !

Get a Shot, Give a Shot at Emcon Pharmacy

Support your local pharmacy and a person in need.

Emcon Pharmacy are striving for a #FLUfree5thave this year by giving away free flu shots to those that don't have insurance or can't afford the vaccine. They will be dispensing 500 shots in September and October through flu pop- up clinics and making sure small business staff on 5th and beyond are vaccinated to keep them healthy throughout the season.
Emcon Sponsored our recent Pizza Eating Contest with Artichoke Pizza. They are very much loved in the community and participate in any way they can. Go get your flu shot and help us keep our community safe this season.

The Limited Denissimo is back!

O Live Brooklyn can't get enough of this sought-after premium balsamic for it's customers, so drop by soon to get your fill before it's too late. "The exquisite and exceedingly rare 1.36 density balsamic is extremely complex, boasting flavor notes of cherry wood, dried fruits, raisins, figs, along with hints of dark chocolate and malt".

We popped in and tried it out today and it was delicious. We walked away with a bottle, of course! O Live Brooklyn Olive 101 Classes will start soon as well. We've been to this class and found it was well worth it, interesting and fun.

Labor Day Is Coming For Real

It happens every year; the summer is lovely and endless and then all of a sudden, September sneaks up on us and with it, Labor Day and the unofficial end of the summer vacation season. What a bummer!

Anyway, you know the drill. Not everyone goes away for Labor Day, though. Sometimes you find yourself scrambling for something to do in town at the last minute while everyone exits the city or travels to their friend's fabulous BBQ party. Don't be left out! There is still plenty going on along #theother5th. For example, Freddy's will be holding their famous Labor Day BBQ on Monday, starting at 3pm! $4 All Taps. Free Burgers and Dogs! South (next door) will also be serving their famous bloody mary's!

If you are confused about what's open/closed on Labor Day, Park Slope Stoop just published a handy guide. Check it out here.
