The Last Blog Post

Welcome to All About Fifth!

The Park Slope Fifth Avenue BID launched this blog site back in 2009 to help promote the amazing things that were happening along Park Slope's Fifth Avenue between Dean and 18th Streets.

As of today (9/19/2016) however, the BID has merged this blog onto its newly designed website at parkslopefifthavenuebid.com. The old blog posts will remain on this site as an archive, for the time being.

We look forward to seeing you on #theother5th !

The Limited Denissimo is back!

O Live Brooklyn can't get enough of this sought-after premium balsamic for it's customers, so drop by soon to get your fill before it's too late. "The exquisite and exceedingly rare 1.36 density balsamic is extremely complex, boasting flavor notes of cherry wood, dried fruits, raisins, figs, along with hints of dark chocolate and malt".

We popped in and tried it out today and it was delicious. We walked away with a bottle, of course! O Live Brooklyn Olive 101 Classes will start soon as well. We've been to this class and found it was well worth it, interesting and fun.

Labor Day Is Coming For Real

It happens every year; the summer is lovely and endless and then all of a sudden, September sneaks up on us and with it, Labor Day and the unofficial end of the summer vacation season. What a bummer!

Anyway, you know the drill. Not everyone goes away for Labor Day, though. Sometimes you find yourself scrambling for something to do in town at the last minute while everyone exits the city or travels to their friend's fabulous BBQ party. Don't be left out! There is still plenty going on along #theother5th. For example, Freddy's will be holding their famous Labor Day BBQ on Monday, starting at 3pm! $4 All Taps. Free Burgers and Dogs! South (next door) will also be serving their famous bloody mary's!

If you are confused about what's open/closed on Labor Day, Park Slope Stoop just published a handy guide. Check it out here.

Let's face it, we could all use some baking tips. Sure, we might make a mean chocolate chip cookie, but what about that chocolate cake you ruined last week? Come on, admit it! That's why we love to buy from our local bakeries!

Well, one of our favorite local bakeries, Buttermilk Bakeshop, is offering more than just sweets for a price. You can learn how to bake your own treats, right in their kitchen! Right now they are offering classes in French Macarons and cupcakes but more will be offered when the slower summer season is over. Luke's Lobster Named One of the Top Food Trucks

The recently released 101 Best Food Trucks in America 2016 by TheDailymeal.com features a lot of amazing meals that are worth chasing after by foot, bike or car. Number 6 on the list is Luke's Lobster, praised for their mouth watering lobster and shrimp rolls on the go!

But you don't have to chase after your meal to experience Luke's Lobster! They have a brick and mortar shop, right here at 237 5th Avenue! The only chasing you'll have to do is when you are playing Pokemon Go (see photo above). Check it out!

Restaurant Week!

It's NYC Restaurant Week (more like month, July 25-August 19). There are hundreds of restaurants throughout the five boroughs offering a $29 Lunch or $42 Dinner but only Benchmark is participating from Park Slope, this time around.

So, take some time to try some restaurants outside of Park Slope (we don't recommend that) or drop by Benchmark for a truly special meal (we do recommend that).

For more information on Restaurant Week, click here.

Oh, and stay tuned, Dine in Brooklyn is coming up in just a couple of weeks!
