Baba's Deli is not just a deli! Sure, they serve made-to-order sandwiches, salads and fresh baked goods and they are all very good. But Baba's also has a beautiful outdoor seating area with a newly painted mural and a real live fountain! When I went to visit, there were a few people just sitting, enjoying their lunch in a shady spot and listening to the trickling of the water. You really could be transported to a vacation spot here.

Steven and Chantal have owned Baba's for 25 years! The deli evolved from an Indian store to what it is today, a family-friendly spot to eat breakfast, lunch or dinner and always enjoy a fresh cup of coffee.

Pop in and say congratulations to the team for their 25th Anniversary. Baba's also delivers but you don't want that! You want to enjoy that amazing outdoor space!

While signing a commercial lease is one of the most important business decisions a small business owner will make, new businesses often fail to properly consider the risks under the belief that they are entering into a “form” agreement with the landlord.  That “form” agreement, however, is almost always extremely favorable to the landlord when it is first presented to a commercial tenant. This course will offer some practical suggestions to ensure that your business interests are being well served and that you minimize the risk to you and your company. The course will be taught by an attorney who regularly counsels both landlords and tenants on lease agreements.

You will learn about:

●       The risks in signing a blanket personal guarantee
●       Understanding a “good-guy guarantee”
●       Default provisions, attorney’s fee provisions and other issues to consider

Celebrate Father's Day With Music on 5th!

A big thanks to everyone who came out and celebrated Brooklyn Pride on 5th Avenue this weekend! Check out pictures of the parade here. 

Next up, of course, is Father's Day. Father's Day also happens to fall on the Summer Solstice this year and, as is traditional, New York City is celebrating the season with music all over the streets and sidewalks with Make Music NY.

Brooklyn Pride Festival (11:00am – 5:00 pm) 5th Avenue from 3rd to 9th Streets. A cross-section of the borough’s business, community, and city-wide organizations, plus food, drinks and lots of entertainment!

Kids Space (11:00 am – 5:00 pm) Old Stone House / Washington Park, 5th Ave. between 3rd and 4th Streets. Fun family activities, music, face painting, arts and crafts, and more!

Twilight Pride Parade (7:30 pm Start) 5th Avenue  from Lincoln Place to 9th Street.  Join the fun with the ONLY “Twilight Parade in the Northeast." Don't miss it!

MUSIC IMPROVISATION WORKSHOP with Jen Baker
Anyone can participate, and some instruments are provided. Found instruments are highly encouraged.

Jen Baker, trombonist and improviser, advocates for new music through collaborations with dozens of artists, solo commissions, and performances in numerous ensembles that often feature multimedia aspects. She has appeared in festivals internationally with new music ensembles that often feature multimedia aspects, and at the Guggenheim, Lincoln Center, the Met Museum, and Barclays Center to name just a few local venues.

TAI CHI AND CHINESE MUSIC with Kwok Kay Choey & Alice Wuo Choey
Come enjoy a peaceful evening of Chinese music, Qi Gong and Tai Chi practice with a local master. Everyone welcome!

Kwok Kay Choey has been practicing the Yang style of Tai Chi for over forty years. He traces Tai Chi’s martial arts origins while also emphasizing its health benefits. He and his wife Alice are also members of the Chinese Music Ensemble of New York.
