Nunu is More Than a Box of Chocolates!

Ready for Happy Hour!
Nunu Chocolates Cafe and Taproom on #theother5th is lovely and cozy. I popped in to see Justine, one of the owners who makes the chocolates on site.  She told me her husband and co-owner Andy made all the wooden seating himself. It's really quite impressive! I tasted their coffee, which is smooth and creamy, but resisted a chocolate. I will, however, be going back to get some holiday gifts.

In case you didn't know, Nunu's is also a Taproom. They have a rotating list of 10 craft beers and wine. Happy Hour is on Thursdays 5-7pm and they also sell 64oz growlers which you can refill very fast with their center pressure system.
Goldilocks Gift Box

It's an unusual combination, chocolates and beer, but there are experts on hand to help you pair your chosen drink with the right sweet. That will be my next visit! To really experience those chocolates, see them being made from Thursday to Saturday, often by Justine, 11am - 7pm.

For kids (of course this is Park Slope) a sing-a-long with Lloyd Miller is on Tuesdays from 10am-11am. $10 a family.

Justine at the beer pumps
If you catch yourself on a sunny day strolling past, then grab a beer, wine or coffee and enjoy the backyard with a pastry or box of chocs!

For the Holidays, the Goldilocks box will be back. Three boxes of chocolates in one gift! Bonus: free wifi!

Shopping and Shipping on #theother5th

You might think it's too early to think about gift buying for the Holidays, but for us Brits and those with families overseas, the Holidays come a month earlier.

If you want your parcels to arrive on time to just about any part of the world, you need to be shipping those boxes by December 1st, unless you are happy to pay priority express shipping. Then you have another week or so.

We suggest you get down to #theother5th and explore the gift, jewelry, clothing and other unique stores in the next week. Most of the local businesses will gift wrap your items for free. Go to our business directory to see just how many wonderful places there are on 5th Ave and remember shopping local helps to support the community you live in.

We have a post office in the BID area and Active Transport Services can also sort out your shipping needs with reasonable prices.

A Big Thanks To Positron

What an amazing Halloween night we had on #theother5th. At the end of the Halloween parade we were treated to a light show from Positron. There were creepy spiders crawling across the Old Stone House, flags waving, grannies rocking in chairs in the windows and some beautiful psychedelic images. Accompanying the show was a live band - Brooklyn-Based Mash It Up Party Band.

Thank you Positron for the amazing show, the Old Stone House for hosting and of course the Park Slope Civic Council for the Halloween Parade.

Now onto the Holidays and the Christmas Tree Lighting on November 28th, 6:30 PM at the corner of 5th Avenue and 4th Street!!!

Opera on Tap expose opera to new audiences by going to venues outside the concert hall (like bars). Young performers and composers get an opportunity to develop their performances and promote the organization.

Go to this link and do what you can to help! Opera on Tap also sing periodically at Freddy's Bar  on #theother5th. It's where they started, so go check them out.
